PS Continuous Transfer Betatron Oscillations

The simplified diagram shows how the beam oscillates around its closed orbit after being kicked by the pedestal and staircase kickers BFA21. The electrostatic septum ES31 slices the beam into two parts, that is, the portion of the beam passing inside the septum experiences additional deflection. The kickers BFA9 annihilate the initial kick. The remaining deflection (caused by ES31) is sufficient for the beam to jump fully into the aperture of the magnetic ejection septum SMH16.
