Meeting on Linac4 - PSB BI Line, 12-November-2007 - DRAFT

Present: Bruno Balhan; Jan Borburgh; Brennan Goddard; Michael Hourican; Tony Fowler; Wim Weterings

- It was recalled from the previous meeting that the baseline design is for 2 Hz booster operation. Wim will contact M.Vretenaar in order to get an answer if this is really required for the PSB injection.

- Jan reported that a full-scale BS1 prototype is being prepared and should be ready for testing within the next few weeks. It was mentioned that a 300mm physical length is feasible and several design options (4 or 10 turns, etc.) are being studied. A more complete report will be given during the next meeting.

- The BI.DIS re-design (mechanical design, magnetic calculations, 30 kV test stand) is progressing and Michael reported that a MTE feedthrough and similar connection box can be used by slightly modifying the coil design. The BI.DIS magnet was successfully tested at the 30kV test stand with a terminator resistor. The same test, but with short circuit termination as for the current design, still needs to be done. Bruno reported on the status of the OPERA simulations (see slides)

- The list of outstanding issues was discussed and accordingly modified.

Proposed items for next meeting are:

- Issues concerning moving KSW1L1 to period 16
- BS1 Prototype status
